'Crazy Lights All Over the Place': A Tennessee Paranormal Radio Host Films Lights That Faded In and Out Over Haywood County
Mickey Utley, who hosts a paranormal talk show on a local radio station, says he stepped onto his back porch on Sept. 28, 2026, and watched a bright, low light fade in and out, then more lights join it. His sky-tracking apps showed nothing overhead. He woke his wife to see it.
Location North of Brownsville, Haywood County, Tennessee

Utley, who hosts a paranormal and extraterrestrial-themed talk show on a local radio station, says he looked out over the dark countryside north of Brownsville and saw a light that seemed to be a star, until it began to fade in and out. Then there were more of them.
“It was really quiet and it was really dark,” he told WBBJ. “It was like a star or something that was really bright, but it was low on the horizon and it just started fading in and out.”
What we know
On the record: documents, statements, dates and places. Sources below.
- The witness. Utley hosts The Suppressed Signal on WTBG, WBBJ reported. He is also an amateur drone pilot, according to the station.
- When and where. Coast to Coast AM reported that the sighting happened on Monday evening, Sept. 28, 2026, while Utley was on the back porch of his home in Haywood County. WBBJ said he was north of Brownsville, looking to the northwest toward the town of Halls.
- The video. Utley sent his footage to WBBJ, which published it with its report on the night of Sept. 30. According to the station, the video shows what appears to be a plane in the night sky that vanishes without a trace and reappears moments later.
- The apps. Utley has alerts set up on several apps that track satellites and other air and spacecraft passing over the area, WBBJ reported. None of them went off, he said.
- The record. According to WBBJ, citing the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) in Davenport, Washington, Utley’s would be the sixth UFO reported in the Brownsville area since 2000, and the first since 2023.
What’s claimed
Accounts, testimony and theories, as told by the people who tell them.
- The lights. Utley said the first light was bright and low, and faded in and out. As he watched, more orbs appeared, and he described “these crazy lights all over the place,” Coast to Coast AM reported.
- A second witness. “I ran and got my wife because I just didn’t want to be the only one to see it, you know,” Utley told WBBJ. “So I got her and she went out there and her jaw hit the ground for like 10 seconds. It was amazing, and so we come back out and they were gone.” Coast to Coast AM reported that he roused his wife from her sleep to see it.
- Nothing on the apps. “I even have the app for the Space Station. It alerts me. That’s how much I’m into it,” Utley said. “It alerts me, but it didn’t go off. Starlink didn’t go off. There was nothing around in that area, no thunderstorms, just these crazy lights all over the place.”
- Not drones, he says. As an amateur drone pilot, Utley has reason to believe drones can be ruled out as well, WBBJ reported.
‘We’re not alone’
For Utley, the coverage itself was part of the story. BroBible reported on Oct. 2 that he wrote on Facebook about riding along with his father, a truck driver for more than 30 years, who listened to Coast to Coast AM through the night. “Art Bell was a huge mentor of mine,” Utley wrote. “Same with the man the, George Norry, co-host of Coast to Coast that just covered MY story. I’m speechless.”
“That night was so so so unusual,” he wrote, according to BroBible. “I can’t and can explain it and I know it don’t make sense. But folks, hate to bust your bubble, but we’re not alone.”
Lights over Halls
What Utley has is a short video, a second witness and a set of apps that stayed silent. The lights haven’t been identified, and no other witnesses from that night have been reported in the coverage so far. For the sixth time since 2000, by NUFORC’s count, someone in the Brownsville area has looked up and reported something they couldn’t name.
