The compound
Picture it: a cluster of low buildings on a desert flat, a radio mast blinking red against a sky so dark you can see the Milky Way. The coffee is strong, the lights are low, and the inbox never sleeps. That’s the compound — the home base for everything we publish, where the dispatches are written and the tips come in over the wire.
In the spirit of late-night radio
We grew up on overnight broadcasts where a caller from three states away would describe lights over a ridge, a voice on a dead line or something crossing the highway in the headlights — and the host would simply listen. No sneering, no crusade. Just the story, told by the people who lived it.
That’s the tradition we’re carrying on. We’re not here to settle the question one way or the other. We bring you the account, the context and the sources, and leave the conclusions to you.
How a dispatch is built
Every story is laid out the same way, so you always know what you’re reading. What we know covers what’s on the record: documents, statements, dates and places. What’s claimed carries the accounts, testimony and theories, in the words of the people who tell them. Sources are linked at the bottom of every dispatch so you can follow the trail yourself.
